Maryvale Preparatory Academy is a Top 3 school within the surrounding school district. We offer an exceptional prep school education that is tuition-free, for all students. We are part of Great Hearts whose academies have a prestigious record of college admission and graduating men and women prepared for a great life. The classical program at Maryvale Prep unlocks the curiosity and potential of every child for a life of learning, and it shapes his or her character for goodness.

We serve 715 students in grades K-10 in a new, state-of-the-art campus on Camelback Road. We will graduate our first class of seniors in 2022.  The brand new campus includes seminar rooms, science labs, a library, a world-class performing arts center, full gymnasium, and field.

This complete campus is brought to life by its exceptional faculty. We recruit teachers from around the country to engage every child in a liberal arts education that will make a huge difference in their lives.

We provide students with a lasting foundation in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and History, as well as knowledge and skill in Spanish, Music, Art, and Physical Education. Students at Maryvale Prep also learn to live lives full of our core virtues —Citizenship, Courage, Friendship, Honesty, Humility, Integrity, Perseverance, Responsibility, and Wisdom.

I warmly invite you to learn more about our school, our faculty, and our campus culture. We all look forward to meeting your family.

Most sincerely,

Crystal Cruz and Mac Esau
Lower and Upper School Headmasters

On-Site Online Learning

Great Hearts will be providing a physical space for students who have a specific need for support that cannot be met in the online learning environment. From Monday, August 17 until our schools open for in-building learning, we will host Great Hearts students at three of our Phoenix-area locations. Those locations will be:

  • Archway Chandler/Chandler Prep located at 1951 North Alma School Road, Chandler, AZ  85224
  • Archway Scottsdale located at 16648 North 94th Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85260
  • Archway Trivium East located at 14130 West McDowell Road, Suite 222, Goodyear, AZ 85395

This service is open to all students in the network and is not limited only to those students currently enrolled at one of these locations.

Each location will offer a space to study, connectivity to the internet, and adult supervision during normal school hours. It will not include before or after-school care, transportation, academic support, or instruction. The service will be provided in large multi-age groups in multi-purpose rooms with possible overflow into other areas of the campus and staffed by Athenaeum employees, coaches, and staff volunteers.

Parents/Guardians will need to ensure that their student(s) have all of the tools needed to learn (i.e., fully charged laptop, headphones/earbuds with a microphone, charging cord, pencils, pens, paper, books, etc.), lunch, and a refillable water bottle.

The program will run Monday – Friday from:

  • 8:00 AM – 11:45 AM for Kindergarten. Full-day Kindergarten will not be offered during this program.
  • 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM for Grades 1-12

If you are interested in this program, please login to your Parent Portal to complete registration. PLEASE NOTE: In order for your student to attend the program on the first day, Monday, August 17, registration must be completed by 5:00 PM on Thursday, August 13. Completion of registration after August 13 will mean your student cannot attend until Tuesday, August 18.
