Summer Camp

Each week of camp will feature a unique theme for K-5th grades with exciting activities based on the wide range of interests– science, math, art, literature, athletic skills, etc.  Whether you register for one week, or all four, it is bound to be an experience to remember!

Week 1 (June 4-7) – Operation Summer Camp: The mission, should you choose to accept it, is to kick start Summer with this exciting week of camp! Campers will transform into ‘special agents’ as they take on STEM challenges to sharpen their skills. They will match fingerprints, create secret agent gadgets, and learn to decipher codes and body language. When they successfully complete their mission, they will graduate as a Great Hearts ‘certified special agent cadet.’

Week 2 (June 11-14) – Nature’s Hidden Wonders: “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” – Marcel Proust.

This week campers will discover marvels of the natural world often hidden in plain sight. They will explore the world around them with new eyes as they seek understanding of some of nature’s most magnificent wonders. Campers will step into nature through activities such as making bat boxes, investigating the incredible life cycle of fungi, exploring how electromagnetism is connected to sea turtle migration, and more!

Week 3 (June 18-21) * NO Camp on June 19th* – Celebration of Nations: Prepare to explore the world with us and learn about the wonderful people who inhabit it. Each day, campers will journey to a different continent– Europe, Oceania, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, to explore the art, food, and traditions of various countries within them. It may be impossible to explore all the amazing cultures in one week, but the journey begins here!

Week 4 (June 25-28) – Farm to Table: Back by popular demand, during this week campers will explore how our food goes from ‘Farm to Table.’ In addition to learning what it means to grow, harvest, raise, and preserve food, campers will also discover the importance of pollinators, dig into different ways of planting, investigate the medicinal properties of herbs, and make their own fermented treats.
